Journal - Apothecary vessels

One of my favorite protects is to create Juju Journals and Smashbooks!

Whilst in the Color of Woman teacher training, our Red Thread SiStar Catt Geller wanted an option suitable for participants in recovery and low-income. She thought of using simple composition books - and Cosmic Smashbooks were born! Catt introduced ed a Smashbooking as a way to document and process during Color of Woman.

After my own graduation in 2015, I corresponded with Catt, and was granted permission to teach local classes for several years, before she began her certification program.
I offer a simple journal making process in my Reiki 2 classes, inviting students to document their Reiki experiences. In these 'Good Medicine journals,' we used Apothecary vessels to transform old stories into remedies

Composition books - inexpensive and readily available - provide a simple foundation for Journaling using word and image. Many of us covered notebooks with brown paper as teens - that's a great beginning! You can use a sharpie to draw the symbols on the cover, before adding the brown paper.
I also have fun making little booklets or zines- often out of junk mail (political ads are great!)

I combine note taking, process journaling and image in my journals, and keep one for gardening, others for art and class notes ...
  • Consider your intention for the journal
  • Write your inquiry
  • Do a Metacognative scribble
  • Set Intentions
  • Set Goals
  • Old stories to 'compost' (paint our collage over)
  • Review your process
  • Record experiences
  • Ideas and tips ...
