Qigong, Tai Chi and Reiki

Image
My massage mentor had polio in the 40s, and recommended we take Tai Chi in '83 to support the bodywork! My own mum had polio in 1921, and needed to use crutches for balance - she encouraged me to be a active as possible.  I studied Yang long form Tai Chi with Maria Wen Yen Liu in Salem, who began each class with a series of Qigong warm up exercises. Maria learned from her father in China, beginning at 3 years old!  I had begun taking Russian ballet 5 years before, with Lynn Marchant , a world class teacher from the Bay area, who had also studied Tai Chi. I continuedwith both ballet and Tai Chi, till I moved to Breitenbush Hot Springs in '91.  At Breitenbush, I began teaching a drop in Qi class for staff and guests 2x a week, as part of our Daily Well Being offerings, and took workshops as I could. One on 1994, with a Qigong teacher that Heiner F. brought from China, included eating stars (!) and a Tiger form, plus exchanging Qi with trees ...  I took Reiki ...

Recalibration

Image
Accidents, surgeries, stress and trauma contribute to feelings of imbalance and being out of synch, what if that could change? We have many examples of Reiki bringing just such changes, for thousands of people!  We now know that our bodies contain the same matter as stars, and that the state of our body electric affects the whole system. Trauma registers in the body's energy field, and energy healing is out most effective tool for clearing that trauma. I've been using calibrated tuning forks on combination with Reiki, both on the body and in the energy field, for over a decade, and find the results profound. Changes in the field ripple over to bring emotional and mental balance, in addition to physical ease and healing. Often old relationship patterns shift, and we come into allotment with our soul purpose! Like Reiki, Tune-Up / Recalibration sessions are most effective when scheduled as a series of sessions.  My Recalibration Medicine Basket includes: Reiki (hand...

Reiki, Lightweaving & the Violet Transmuting Flame

Image
This past summer, my friend & SiStar Reiki Master Sheila King offered a class on 'Lightweaving' to a group of Reiki Practitioners. Sheila was my small group leader at the Breitenbush Reiki Gathering in the early 90s, & I've appreciated her wise, warm presence and teachings ever since. Sheila writes : " Light Weaving is a method of healing that works primarily with the energetic body. Light Weaving restores missing connections in the energetic body, and also restores connections between the energetic body and the physical body. When missing connections in the energetic body are restored, the related dysfunctional area in the physical body receives more complete information and energy and so can restructure itself properly.  This restructuring not only happens in the physical body, it also happens in the related emotional and mental structures. And with this restoration, every pattern related to the dysfunction will heal. Usually with this treatment, people ...

Rei Ki - the word

Image
Reiki is written in two Japanese kanji or characters,  Spiritual (&) Energy The word 'Reiki' is used in the West to denote a healing system. The founder of our Modern Reiki System, Mikao Usui didn't use this term, his teachings were more commonly called 'Usui Do' (the Way of Usui) and the healings 'Usui teate' or Usui's form of hands-on healing. Later, the word Reiki was added or substituted, to signify the system utilized spiritual energy. In Chinese, the same two kanji are used for 'Ling Chi'   "Ling Chi is the subtylest and most highly refined of all the energies in the human system and the product of the most advanced stage of a practice, whereby the ordinary energy of the body are transformed into pure spiritual vitality. This type of highly refined energy enhances spiritual awareness, improves all cerebral functions, and constitutes the basic fuel for the highest level of spiritual work." (Ling Gung: Harnessing th...

Beginnings

"King, did you hear that? The hands of a healer, I say." Return of the King - J.R.R. Tolkein I began my journey with Reiki over twenty years ago, in Nov. 1989, six years into my massage practice. In the early 80s, I learned a brief ' Polarity ' treatment during my basic massage training, & felt there should be more we could do with our healing hands!  So when I attended a talk on healing, and  the speaker (Analyse Chamberlaine) mentioned she would offer a Level I Reiki training in a couple of weeks, I realized this is for me! ' & signed up. I continued to study with Analyse over the next several years, becoming a Reiki Master early summer, 1991. Reiki met, no, exceeded my expectations, & that first class affirmed my sense that I wanted to open the Reiki door' for others! I've been offering sessions & teaching Reiki for over  20 years, & am still amazed at its simplicity & strength! Reiki, pronounced ' ray-key ,' is...
