Reiki Circle

Image
Mrs Takata encouraged her students to practice  "Reiki for the self first! "  before treating others.   When we're new students, we are excited and inspired to practice self Reiki daily, but as time passes, we may fall away.  Attending a Reiki circle is a lovely way to connect with the energy and other practioners.  Green Dragon On Tuesday, we hosted a Reiki circle in the lovely office where I've begun teaching, and were delighted to be joined by 4 'Reiki Peeps.' After brief introductions and settling in, we Circled up, and led several practices.  Gasshô - place two palms together, which brings balance to mind and body Recite the Precepts (English or Japanese) For today only: Do not anger  Do not worry  Be humble / grateful Be honest in your work  Be compassionate to yourself and others Kenyoko Hô - dry bathing / brushing  (Purify Body, heart and mind - often used before and after practice)  This practice includes...

Preparing for sessions

Image
A recent inquiry in the Reiki Community group was around how folks use the symbols in their sesions. My practice is inviting Reiki to infuse my day - to Be Reiki.  I set my intention for the space to be nurturing and healing before the client enters.  My sessions are primarily Reiki infused massage, and I use tuning forks and other modalities in some sessions.  Glyph for Dragon I currently share a room with  another LMT, who's placed selenite crystals in wee bags in each corner, and tourmaline above the door. I brought in a salt lamp - energy is cleared 'automatically' each day.  I 'smudge' the room and bless table with the power symbol periodically, or blow cinnamon on the door.  Entering : I  plug in the salt lamp, turn on the table warmer, and circle the room, as I put linens on the massage/ Reiki table.  I may do Qigong or the  Hatsurei-Ho  if I want to connect more strongly with Qi, and infuse the room and myself with more e...

Fourteen Day Challenge

Image
Following our weekend Reiki 1 class, I've decided to do a personal 14 day Reiki challenge .  As I revisited my Reiki journals, I was reminded of previous challenges I've done, and they are  a lovely way to refresh and recharge our energy.  It's 35 years since I took first Degree Reiki, and  that first day, our teacher Analyse invited us to go to sleep with one hand on our heart, and one on our belly. This is one of the simplest self-Reiki forms.  Reiki journal I began a page in my Reiki Journal, to track my Reiki sessions and practices.  I plan to choose a session and one or two practices daily. I do a morning blessing most days (Cherokee and a Reiki morning meditation/ blessing.  Self Reiki options: B : Basic self Reiki (~ 45 minutes  C : Chakra treatment (~ 30 minutes G : Gasshô practice (12- 15 minutes H : Hatsurei-Ho   (meditation - 12 minutes Practices and self care There are many practices that we can use to support our Reiki jo...

Preparing for Class

Image
Before taking a Reiki class or other energy training, it can helpful to spend time the week before in preparation.  This 'sets the stage' for receiving and integrating the energy and teachings.  A favorite reference, The Reiki Sourcebook notes, 'Reiki re-aligns one with one's true path, source and spirit.'   What we do before and after the class and attunements facilitates that realignment!  We can also Deepen with Reiki at any time, on our own or with other practioners.  Some of my favorite experiences have been sharing time with others attuned to Reiki during 'chance' meetings or more formal Reiki shares.  Preparation: It's ideal to receive a Reiki session the week prior to initiation. Eat consciously - whole local foods when possible Drink extra water, rest as needed Limit use of alcohol, coffee, any drugs (take your usual prescriptions!) Note synchronicities, dreams, and insights Incorporate some gentle, energy enhancing movement If you med...

Making cards

Image
Last week, we made small ATC (artist trading cards) with one of the other moderators in our Red Thread Circle. Making small cards for affirmation, to-dos, setting intention, or prayer flags is one of my favorite small projects.  In many traditions, flags of paper or cloth are hung to send prayers, praise and blessings on the wind. We recently used strips of fabric and sharpies in our church courtyard, for our monthly farmers market booth, and participants tied their prayers on clotheslines hung between the trees.  Chakra flags - Batik fabric I invite students to make prayer flags for the Reiki Principles in our First Degree classes. These remind us of these precepts, we can choose one to work with for a day or week, or recite them ... This is a simple way to bring the principles to life, and deepen with Reiki.  Flags on brown paper bag I used the cards begun in last week's Circle for the Japanese words, and pull them out for the morning and evening Hatsurei-Ho medi...
