Gaining experience
At the end of our recent Reiki 1 class, our hostess offered the treatment room as a place to practice with other students, and offered to exchange sessions. We practiced the positions for head, then chest front and back, in the seperate sessions, and I encouraged them to do self Reiki, and practice on family and pets.
Sometimes, students don't have much practice time in class, which may cause them to feel they aren't fully prepared! On a couple of our calls in 2017, Phyllis Furumoto commented we each choose our path, and we each take on what we need in the moment.
We heard stories, enjoyed the abundant food and explored the grounds. We painted Potter rattles which were made for our group, AMF the weather was lovely. I first met Phyllis at the gatherings at Breitenbush, it was good to reconnect with the group.
Here are some ways to practice once your class is over:
Classmates are usually happy for an opportunity to practice the whole sequence - you can go over the patterns together, and then take take turns giving and receiving! This can be one on one, or a a small group. You may decide to exchange regularly - perhaps monthly?
Your Master may be a willing recipient of a session. S/he is a great person to practice on, and will give you the opportunity to ask any questions that have come up! They may also host Reiki shares, or will schedule of there's interest!
Open circles offer an introduction to those interested in learning more and experiencing the gentle power of Reiki.
Also - be sure you're practicing self Reiki daily! One Master friend suggests her students alternate between the basic treatment (on the front of your body - about 3 minutes per position / 40 minutes total) and a chakra treatment (about 20 minutes) It can be helpful to practice the personal treatment flow when you're together as well.
And - there's a free virtual Reiki summit happening now - October 8-12!! Click the link to register.
Do you exchange Reiki with others?

ReplyDeleteThank you, Jazzy - it's a process to find our own way - always sweet when something resonates.
DeleteI'm enjoying a Corridale from summit this week - really feeling that sense of broader community.
