Clearing

Image
Recently a friend sent a note, saying she was experiencing pain in her upper body and neck, and feel it is related to 'releasing ancestor pain bodies.' In addition to sending distant healing, I suggested she do one of my favorite clearing exercises, followed by a short self treatment.  You may wish to try it as well!  Take a few minutes to set sacred space - dim the lights, light a candle, and invite your angels and guides to assist. Cozy space Three Sweeps (I usually stand): Rub your hands together Bring your hands above your head: Fingers facing back, little fingers together, hands a few inches above your head. 'sweep' down over your hair and shoulders then sides (just off the body) At the bottom, flick your fingers toward the floor/ ground. Repeat twice more:  'I cleanse my aura (sweep & flick) 'I cleanse my spirit (sweep & flick) 'I cleanse my body (sweep & flick) Imagine anything cleansed / cleared goes into the earth as compost!  Take...

Setting space

Recently, I binge watched sessions with Simple Shui maven  Amanda Gibby Peters , and love her simple tips for incorporating Feng Shui into our daily lives! I've long been interested in Feng Shui, had a consultation for my treatment room, and have taken several mini workshops. Sanctuary First and foremost for harmonizing energy is editing our space (i.e. clearing clutter!) to reflect current interests and activities.  The longer we occupy a space, the more we can accumulate - clutter clearing isn't a 'once and done' activity, but something to be incorporated into our daily/ weekly tasks!  One of Amanda's Simple Shui tips is to use salt for an,  "everyday, any situation cleanse.  You simply leave a small bowl of (sea or Himalayan) salt out for 24 hours. At 24 hours, dispose of it outside in the dirt or trash - whatever makes the most sense for you. You will feel brighter and lighter immediately."  As I'm currently in process of preparing my home for sa...

After your Session

Image
Sometimes, receiving or giving Reiki will bring up emotions for clearing - I recall my teacher Alalyse inviting us to try to  observe those feelings, and not react to them.  Years ago, a friend found she sometimes felt open and vulnerable after giving or receiving Reiki - if you experience this, consider adding some practices for integration.  Spiral of life After the session When ready, open your eyes and notice three things in the room. Ground yourself, and imagine mama Gaia welcoming any released energy as compost.  Place one hand on the top of your head and the other on your belly. Imagine your energies being 'sealed up' as you prepare to leave the healing space.  Sweep your hands from just above your head, over the back of your neck, down your sides, and flick your fingers, imagining anything extra being released into the earth. Repeat at least three times. Bless and drink a glass of water, inviting the energy to integrate into your body, and anythi...

Initiations and Headaches

Image
When I began offering Reiki classes in 1991, I had just begun making flower essences, and blends or "bouquets." I had several reference books and a few essences from others, and appreciated the ways the energies of Reiki and the flowers dovetailed.  One of my sets is the Rose 2 Essences from Parelandra, which are designed to "address the electric system's support during a deep expansion experience. Here, one is not processing ordinary, everyday change and challenges. When faced with this kind of expansion, we are required to function in new ways, and with patterns and rhythms yet to be experienced. The Rose Essences II set assists that phenomenon by balancing and stabilizing the electrical system and its circuits that support all deep-expansion activity." Jude the Obscure This perfectly describes the kind of deep expansion we experience during Reiki initiations!  I brought essences to my classes, and often made an initiation " bouquet " to he...

Reiki Mastery Journey - deepening

Image
When I took First Degree thirty years ago, my teacher Analise explained the levels, and I immediately knew I wished to learn to "open the Reiki door" for others! The next year, I began trading sessions with a nearby practitioner .  I traveled to Janelle's studio in a nearby town, and she would come to mine. This was an excellent way to ground the teachings, as Analise had moved out of state, and I didn't know any other Reiki practioners.  Healing flame - Breitenbush 1993 In fall I took Reiki 2, and the following summer ('91), let Analise know I'd like to take Reiki 3 on her next visit to Oregon. She told me she was coming in early summer, so we set the date! (Yikes!!)   I offered massage on the Healing Arts team, and they had decided to take  initiation in Reiki 1 the previous year. I was asked to offer level 2 initiation for the team after my own training, and initiated a number of staff over the next decade.  There were 3 other students in our Ma...

Protection and Reiki

Image
A question students often ask is, " do we need to protect ourselves when offering a Reiki session?"  Well, no, ... yes, ... maybe!  No : In general, Reiki is"self adjusting," flowing where it needs to, in exactly the right amount, for both the practitioner and the receiver. Anything released returns to the earth and elements as energy. Reiki also recharges the giver during the session! Yes : Some individuals tend to take on others' energy more readily than others. Do you get easily fatigued in a large group? Are you sensitive to outside energies in everyday life? Try some of these suggestions, and observe what works best for YOU!  Intention : Taking a few minutes before and after a session to focus in and set your intention. You might think of this as "protection," or simply something you do! Invite anything released go into mama Gaia as compost, or hand it off to their guides and angels.  You may notice that your daily self-Reiki practice brin...

Reiki for the Self First

In her Reiki Webinar earlier this Week, East Coast Master Pamela Miles stressed the importance of developing a daily Self-Reiki practice . Initiated in the mid-eighties, Pamela began doing self-Reiki daily after that first class, & has continued. Her primary question to any Reiki student or practitioner experiencing problems 'Do you practice Daily Self Reiki? I remember my Master Analyse suggesting we fall asleep with one hand on our belly & one on our heart. Other masters suggest alternating between a full Self-treatment and one on the chakras. When was asked about Certification and Completion Requirements. Pamela chuckled & said she doesn't offer certification, but she does have some requirements. For First Degree: she invites her students to practice Self Reiki Daily, and she asks them one question ....  On her blog, Pamela shared her simple morning practice:  "To offer myself a full Reiki self-treatment, I place my hands on these areas of my body, in...

Reiki II

The Second degree or "Oku Den" training expands your Reiki practice in many ways, including tools to: offer Reiki over distance of space & time enhance and deepen your hands-on Reiki practice harmonize mind & emotions bring more ease to learning new skills bring the power of Reiki to lifes challenges bless your food, drink, home  begin or continue your Reiki Journal work more consciously with the Reiki guides During the Second degree class, students learn three Reiki symbols (Yantras) & the accompanying words (Mantras) and receive another initiation . It's helpful to revisit these tips several weeks before the initiation. Like my Reiki master, Analyse, Dr Hayashi used the image of a muddy stream when explaining the natural clearing process - water may look clear, but there's mud under the surface. Flushing this, or removing the mud on the top, the stream will appear to clear, but there will still be mud ... repeat the process, eventual...
