Tools - EFT and Reiki

Image
Have you tried  EFT ?  This energy meridian therapy, which involves tapping on a series of meridian points, is an excellent modality! It's very effective on its own, and a wonderful compliment to Reiki. In EFT, points on the upper body (head, chest and hands) are tapped in a specific pattern - often as you repeat an affirmative phrase.  Several years ago, I enrolled in online EFT courses with  Graham Nichols , and I enjoy occasional group sessions with a local practitioner.  In a conference call, Graham suggested we choose a couple of positive characteristics, and tap on them morning and evening for the next 14-28 days. This is a lovely 'next step' following our 14 day Reiki challenge! Some possibilities: Ease and Well-being Love and respect Love and forgiveness Joy and gratitude Confidence and excitement Comfort and balance in times of sorrow Some wonder if combining Reiki and EFT might result in "too much" energy ...  on the contrary , I feel they ...

Recharge

Image
Mrs Takata often told her students 'Hands on, Reiki on!' - emphasising how simple it is to connect with Reiki.  I liken doing a Reiki to charging a battery, if a battery is low, when you attach it to a charger, it 'draws' the energy it needs through the cord or jumper cables. When you take it off the charger, it no longer draws energy. Denise Linn - 'Flow ' When we place our 'Reiki Charged' hands on someone, they draw the energy through us - 'Hands on, Reiki on!' When we remove our hands, they no longer 'draw' energy.  Mrs Takata also suggested eating simple food, full of vitality, in the hospital, she likely received simple Japanese fare - rice, steamed vegetables, Miso soup, fresh water & green tea. Think of what will help you recharge!  Preparing for Initiation, and integrating afterwards, students are encouraged to eat consciously, healthy fresh food where possible. To drink a bit more water (which helps our human batteries re...

After your Session

Image
Sometimes, receiving or giving Reiki will bring up emotions for clearing - I recall my teacher Alalyse inviting us to try to  observe those feelings, and not react to them.  Years ago, a friend found she sometimes felt open and vulnerable after giving or receiving Reiki - if you experience this, consider adding some practices for integration.  Spiral of life After the session When ready, open your eyes and notice three things in the room. Ground yourself, and imagine mama Gaia welcoming any released energy as compost.  Place one hand on the top of your head and the other on your belly. Imagine your energies being 'sealed up' as you prepare to leave the healing space.  Sweep your hands from just above your head, over the back of your neck, down your sides, and flick your fingers, imagining anything extra being released into the earth. Repeat at least three times. Bless and drink a glass of water, inviting the energy to integrate into your body, and anythi...

Initiations and Headaches

Image
When I began offering Reiki classes in 1991, I had just begun making flower essences, and blends or "bouquets." I had several reference books and a few essences from others, and appreciated the ways the energies of Reiki and the flowers dovetailed.  One of my sets is the Rose 2 Essences from Parelandra, which are designed to "address the electric system's support during a deep expansion experience. Here, one is not processing ordinary, everyday change and challenges. When faced with this kind of expansion, we are required to function in new ways, and with patterns and rhythms yet to be experienced. The Rose Essences II set assists that phenomenon by balancing and stabilizing the electrical system and its circuits that support all deep-expansion activity." Jude the Obscure This perfectly describes the kind of deep expansion we experience during Reiki initiations!  I brought essences to my classes, and often made an initiation " bouquet " to he...

Beginning - Reiki 1

Image
When a friend or family member is suffering, do you wish there was 'something more' you could do? When I began offering massage in the early 80s, I often felt that way, .... then I discovered Reiki!  I've offered Reiki sessions and classes for over 25 years, and am continually touched by Reiki's gentle power, and suitability for most circumstances.  I recently spent time with my friend Margot, who was initiated by Takata in 1972. She enjoyed the class, but didn't focus much attention on Reiki till she was studying massage a decade later, and was reintroduced. Like me, she opens the Reiki Door through sessions, classes and circles in her community, and loves Reiki.  Have you taken Reiki, and would like to reconnect with the energy? Or is it something you've wanted to learn? In either case, I'd love to work with you.  If you are sensitive to energy, and easily overwhelmed, you may find Reiki helps mitigate that, and you're better able to function...

Essence Bouquet: Healing Heart and Hands

Image
Plumeria In the Flower Essence Repertory , Patricia Kaminsky & Richard Katz write: " In selecting appropriate essences, one can start with the positive goal, and then uncover the emotional or mental pattern which blocks the purpose. Likewise, identify the client's pattern of imbalance or suffering, and then determine the positive quality which needs to be developed."  This applies when choosing an individual essence, or when formulating a combination, a  'bouquet.' I began making essences just before becoming a Reiki Master in 1991, and have used individual essences and 'bouquets' in my classes since the beginning. I find them helpful for the integration process and add a way to  reset  our fields.  I find essences often 'present' themselves to be included in bouquets, as soon as I set the intention of what I wish to address, both positive goals, & shifting blocks to achieving that goal . Here are the flowers I included in  'Hea...

Beginnings

Image
A couple of weeks after meeting our Reiki Master, another student & I arrived at her home for our First Degree Reiki class. One of Analyse's Mastery students joined us as well, to participate & observe. We alternated between teachings, sharing stories & experiences, initiations & learning to give (& receive) treatments. Analyse described the initiations as 'clearing the pipes' for the energy to flow through us, unimpeded. 'Think of the water pipes in two houses, a 'city house' & a summer home. If you turn on the faucet at home, the water runs clearly, while those in a place that's rarely used my sputter a bit, & run a bit cloudy. BOTH pipes have corrosion, but you don't observe that as much in the pipes that are used regularly.  'It's the same with people - some people naturally allow energy to flow, others don't; but both have 'blocks' that restrict the flow. The initation 'clears the pipes' in...
