Reiki and MAP

Image
In the early 90s, I began making  flower essences  shortly after joining the Healing Arts Team at Breitenbush Hot Springs and becoming a Reiki Master.  One of my books on essences was Machaelle Small Wright's. I'd been gardening co-creatively with Nature since reading about Findhorn in the 80s, and later discovered Machaelle's Garden Workbook. When she published her  Medical Assistance Program (MAP),  I got her initial handouts, then the book. Petunia - creative visionary With this program (developed from her work with Devas and nature spirits, Machaelle began to work with a "team" for personal health - both physical and mental/emotional. It dovetails beautifully with energy work including Reiki and etheric healing, tuning forks and lightweaving, and during sessions received from other healers. The team includes: PAN (the CEO of nature)  Great White Brotherhood (Ascended Masters, including Motherr Mary and Christos, and the Reiki guides) Deva  of...

Beginning - Reiki 1

Image
When a friend or family member is suffering, do you wish there was 'something more' you could do? When I began offering massage in the early 80s, I often felt that way, .... then I discovered Reiki!  I've offered Reiki sessions and classes for over 25 years, and am continually touched by Reiki's gentle power, and suitability for most circumstances.  I recently spent time with my friend Margot, who was initiated by Takata in 1972. She enjoyed the class, but didn't focus much attention on Reiki till she was studying massage a decade later, and was reintroduced. Like me, she opens the Reiki Door through sessions, classes and circles in her community, and loves Reiki.  Have you taken Reiki, and would like to reconnect with the energy? Or is it something you've wanted to learn? In either case, I'd love to work with you.  If you are sensitive to energy, and easily overwhelmed, you may find Reiki helps mitigate that, and you're better able to function...

Recalibration

Image
Accidents, surgeries, stress and trauma contribute to feelings of imbalance and being out of synch, what if that could change? We have many examples of Reiki bringing just such changes, for thousands of people!  We now know that our bodies contain the same matter as stars, and that the state of our body electric affects the whole system. Trauma registers in the body's energy field, and energy healing is out most effective tool for clearing that trauma. I've been using calibrated tuning forks on combination with Reiki, both on the body and in the energy field, for over a decade, and find the results profound. Changes in the field ripple over to bring emotional and mental balance, in addition to physical ease and healing. Often old relationship patterns shift, and we come into allotment with our soul purpose! Like Reiki, Tune-Up / Recalibration sessions are most effective when scheduled as a series of sessions.  My Recalibration Medicine Basket includes: Reiki (hand...

Protection and Reiki

Image
A question students often ask is, " do we need to protect ourselves when offering a Reiki session?"  Well, no, ... yes, ... maybe!  No : In general, Reiki is"self adjusting," flowing where it needs to, in exactly the right amount, for both the practitioner and the receiver. Anything released returns to the earth and elements as energy. Reiki also recharges the giver during the session! Yes : Some individuals tend to take on others' energy more readily than others. Do you get easily fatigued in a large group? Are you sensitive to outside energies in everyday life? Try some of these suggestions, and observe what works best for YOU!  Intention : Taking a few minutes before and after a session to focus in and set your intention. You might think of this as "protection," or simply something you do! Invite anything released go into mama Gaia as compost, or hand it off to their guides and angels.  You may notice that your daily self-Reiki practice brin...

Okuden, Going Deeper

Image
In a recent e-mail, my friend Reiki-Master sister Sheila King wrote: 'Going deeply into your heart           Going deeply into your healing                     Opening yourself to the light ... 'The Japanese word Okuden means 'the Deeper knowledge'. To take Second degree Reiki means to open to deeper levels of Reiki and to yourself. Reiki on all levels is like   light in our lives, shining in all the dark corners, bringing us into alignment with our Higher Selves. First degree is like a flashlight shining within us. As we complete the shifting this illumination brings, we are ready to welcome the brighter stronger light that is Okuden. Initiation into Second degree gives us much more Light & energy to direct. ' With first Degree Reiki, we place our hands and the energy flows, beautifully, magically, what a blessing! It is unconsciously available at any time ... with Okuden, with deepening, w...

Essence Bouquet: Healing Heart and Hands

Image
Plumeria In the Flower Essence Repertory , Patricia Kaminsky & Richard Katz write: " In selecting appropriate essences, one can start with the positive goal, and then uncover the emotional or mental pattern which blocks the purpose. Likewise, identify the client's pattern of imbalance or suffering, and then determine the positive quality which needs to be developed."  This applies when choosing an individual essence, or when formulating a combination, a  'bouquet.' I began making essences just before becoming a Reiki Master in 1991, and have used individual essences and 'bouquets' in my classes since the beginning. I find them helpful for the integration process and add a way to  reset  our fields.  I find essences often 'present' themselves to be included in bouquets, as soon as I set the intention of what I wish to address, both positive goals, & shifting blocks to achieving that goal . Here are the flowers I included in  'Hea...

Simplicity

Image
Mrs Takata often told her students 'Hands on, Reiki on!' emphasising the simplicity of engaging the Reiki energy. I liken it to charging a battery, if a battery is low, when you attach it to a charger, it 'draws' the energy it needs through the cord or jumper cables. When you take it off the charger, it no longer draws energy. Denise Linn - 'Flow' When we place our 'Reiki Charged' hands on someone needing energy, they draw the energy through us - 'Hands on, Reiki on!' When we take our hands off, they no longer 'draw' energy. (In second degree, we learn to consciously 'send' Reiki across distance of space & time, but the focus in First Degree is hands on work.) Mrs Takata also suggested eating simple food, full of vitality, in the hospital, she likely received simple Japanese fare - rice, steamed vegetables, Miso soup, fresh water & green tea. When preparing to receive Initiation into Reiki, students are encourage...

Edward Bach - Healing Touch

Image
Around the same time that Takata sought answers for her own health, and Hayashi had opened his Tokyo clinic & was teaching hands on & spiritual healing, Englishman, Edward Bach, had similar questions, a similar quest. " Health is our heritage & right. It is the complete and full union between soul, mind & body.'   (Edward Bach, Collected Writings, P 91) Bach was born in Mosley, England Sept 24, 1886. He studied medicine, graduating in 1912, & commented ' It will take me 5 years to forget all I've been taught.' He had already begun to notice that different emotional states, worry, anxiety, anger, could affect the patient's health. He dreamed of a different kind of hospital, where patients could learn about themselves, & doctors would look more at the person than the symptoms. As an MD, he worked both as a general practitioner, bacteriologist & pathologist, developing vaccines made using a patient's own intestinal bacteria. ...

Breath of Reiki

Image
There are many ways to utilize Reiki for personal healing & clearing. One of the simplest is to use your breath plus visualization. Can you do this even if you haven't been initiated into Reiki? YES! Intention & visualization are powerful tools. Just imagine yourself filling with love, peace, calm, health. Take a moment to get comfortable - if you wish, set the scene! Light a candle, ring a bell, sit on a cushion or lie down. Imagine yourself in a beautiful spot in nature, a high mountain stream, by the ocean, someplace the air is pure & clear. Imagine that you are breathing in this pure clear air. Breathe in through your nose, exhale can be either through nose or mouth. You may find yourself sighing at times - that's a wonderful release! Slowly inhale into the crown of your head, & feel the breath filling your head. Gently exhale, releasing worry, anxious thoughts, tension. Wait till your body 'nudges' you to inhale again. Slowly inhale, feeli...

Beginnings

Image
"King, did you hear that? The hands of a healer, I say." Return of the King - J.R.R. Tolkein I began my journey with Reiki over twenty years ago, in Nov. 1989, six years into my massage practice. In the early 80s, I learned a brief ' Polarity ' treatment during my basic massage training, & felt there should be more we could do with our healing hands!  So when I attended a talk on healing, and  the speaker (Analyse Chamberlaine) mentioned she would offer a Level I Reiki training in a couple of weeks, I realized this is for me! ' & signed up. I continued to study with Analyse over the next several years, becoming a Reiki Master early summer, 1991. Reiki met, no, exceeded my expectations, & that first class affirmed my sense that I wanted to open the Reiki door' for others! I've been offering sessions & teaching Reiki for over  20 years, & am still amazed at its simplicity & strength! Reiki, pronounced ' ray-key ,' is...
