Clearing Trauma

Image
In a recent post in our virtual Reiki Community group, a practioner asked for tips on releasing trauma after giving a session, which triggered an old personal trauma.  I seconded the suggestion of using EFT as a tool to clear their own trauma, and receiving Reiki and Acupuncture from those who feel safe and resonant. All my teachers have recommended receiving treatment from others when ill or under stress! Borage - comfort and courage I shared a practice learned in Lightwork: Before the session - envision a ' matching picture rose' between you and your client, assign it the task of absorbing and transmuting any of the same issues that might come up. See it's stem being well grounded (and ground yourself before the session *) ... After the session, seperate your energy from your client, and observe 3 things in the room, then DISSOLVE the Rose! See it evaporate, taking all which it's  cleared with it. If you have a saltlamp in your space, be sure to turn it on be...

Tools - EFT and Reiki

Image
Have you tried  EFT ?  This energy meridian therapy, which involves tapping on a series of meridian points, is an excellent modality! It's very effective on its own, and a wonderful compliment to Reiki. In EFT, points on the upper body (head, chest and hands) are tapped in a specific pattern - often as you repeat an affirmative phrase.  Several years ago, I enrolled in online EFT courses with  Graham Nichols , and I enjoy occasional group sessions with a local practitioner.  In a conference call, Graham suggested we choose a couple of positive characteristics, and tap on them morning and evening for the next 14-28 days. This is a lovely 'next step' following our 14 day Reiki challenge! Some possibilities: Ease and Well-being Love and respect Love and forgiveness Joy and gratitude Confidence and excitement Comfort and balance in times of sorrow Some wonder if combining Reiki and EFT might result in "too much" energy ...  on the contrary , I feel they ...

Lightwork

Image
Living and working on Healing Arts at Breitenbush in the 90s, I was blessed to attend the Annual Reiki Gathering with Phyllis Lei Furomoto, and to study with healers and mentors from many traditions and backgrounds, including Wheels of Light author Rosalyn Bruyere, the Breema community, Egypt scholar Nicky Scully, Qigong teachers, ethetic healer Eric Vormanns, Lightwork teacher Amorah Quan Yin, and many others. I met Mt Shasta healer  Amorah  shortly after moving to Breitenbush thirty years ago, and enjoyed our chats and hearing about her Pleiadian Lightwork, and the book ( Pleiadian Workbook ) she was writing. So when she offered her month long intensive training several years later at Breitenbush, I signed up!  I had moved to the coast, but was asked to 'fill-in' in the Healing Arts, during the time the workshop was scheduled.  So I asked for and received received permission to schedule my sessions around our workshop time! As Amorah suggested, I purchased ...

Cutting Cords

Image
An inquiry arose in a online Reiki community recently on fielding communication from a former client, several years after their therapeutic relationship ended, which no longer felt beneficial or appropriate. Suggestions from the community included both setting / reinforcing boundaries, and perhaps a need for cutting cords.  Some of my teachers and fellow healers have offered techniques which can be used when it feels that cutting cords is in order. This practice includes teachings from several of them, and can be adapted as you feel the need. Middle Mea Meadow Pool - Breitenbush If you've taken Second Degree, you can include Mental-Emotional and distant Reiki.  Sit in a quiet, safe space, ground yourself, and see your aura bubble shining bright around you, bring your hands to Gassho (prayer position.) Invite your Reiki guides to support and guide you in this process. Ask that any clearing be for your and the other's highest good, and that it be a gracious, gentle process...

Reiki and MAP

Image
In the early 90s, I began making  flower essences  shortly after joining the Healing Arts Team at Breitenbush Hot Springs and becoming a Reiki Master.  One of my books on essences was Machaelle Small Wright's. I'd been gardening co-creatively with Nature since reading about Findhorn in the 80s, and later discovered Machaelle's Garden Workbook. When she published her  Medical Assistance Program (MAP),  I got her initial handouts, then the book. Petunia - creative visionary With this program (developed from her work with Devas and nature spirits, Machaelle began to work with a "team" for personal health - both physical and mental/emotional. It dovetails beautifully with energy work including Reiki and etheric healing, tuning forks and lightweaving, and during sessions received from other healers. The team includes: PAN (the CEO of nature)  Great White Brotherhood (Ascended Masters, including Motherr Mary and Christos, and the Reiki guides) Deva  of...

Initiations and Headaches

Image
When I began offering Reiki classes in 1991, I had just begun making flower essences, and blends or "bouquets." I had several reference books and a few essences from others, and appreciated the ways the energies of Reiki and the flowers dovetailed.  One of my sets is the Rose 2 Essences from Parelandra, which are designed to "address the electric system's support during a deep expansion experience. Here, one is not processing ordinary, everyday change and challenges. When faced with this kind of expansion, we are required to function in new ways, and with patterns and rhythms yet to be experienced. The Rose Essences II set assists that phenomenon by balancing and stabilizing the electrical system and its circuits that support all deep-expansion activity." Jude the Obscure This perfectly describes the kind of deep expansion we experience during Reiki initiations!  I brought essences to my classes, and often made an initiation " bouquet " to he...

Beginning - Reiki 1

Image
When a friend or family member is suffering, do you wish there was 'something more' you could do? When I began offering massage in the early 80s, I often felt that way, .... then I discovered Reiki!  I've offered Reiki sessions and classes for over 25 years, and am continually touched by Reiki's gentle power, and suitability for most circumstances.  I recently spent time with my friend Margot, who was initiated by Takata in 1972. She enjoyed the class, but didn't focus much attention on Reiki till she was studying massage a decade later, and was reintroduced. Like me, she opens the Reiki Door through sessions, classes and circles in her community, and loves Reiki.  Have you taken Reiki, and would like to reconnect with the energy? Or is it something you've wanted to learn? In either case, I'd love to work with you.  If you are sensitive to energy, and easily overwhelmed, you may find Reiki helps mitigate that, and you're better able to function...

Recalibration

Image
Accidents, surgeries, stress and trauma contribute to feelings of imbalance and being out of synch, what if that could change? We have many examples of Reiki bringing just such changes, for thousands of people!  We now know that our bodies contain the same matter as stars, and that the state of our body electric affects the whole system. Trauma registers in the body's energy field, and energy healing is out most effective tool for clearing that trauma. I've been using calibrated tuning forks on combination with Reiki, both on the body and in the energy field, for over a decade, and find the results profound. Changes in the field ripple over to bring emotional and mental balance, in addition to physical ease and healing. Often old relationship patterns shift, and we come into allotment with our soul purpose! Like Reiki, Tune-Up / Recalibration sessions are most effective when scheduled as a series of sessions.  My Recalibration Medicine Basket includes: Reiki (hand...

My Journey with Flower Essences

Image
When I was a little girl, we moved back from our 'Ranch' between Redmond & Bend (Deschutes Junction) to an acre 1 mile South of Redmond. My dad had added a cinder block garage to the house which had been built a few years before, & we had some half blocks lying about ... I'd go out to the pasture, & pick some soft leaves, yarrow, filaree .... & taking a stone, grind them on the broken block ... Knowing, not knowing that there was 'something more to do,' I'd roll little 'pills,' & dry them in the sun. I didn't really 'know' there were things like mortar & pestles, I just 'knew' one ground herbs ... Honey Bee on Artichoke We had chives by the garage, & mint grew in the ditches. Later, I found that my grandmother Mary had grown & used herbs, including Valerian (not exactly a cooking herb!) so realized that this ingrained sense of 'something more to do' had come down through our family ... ...

Reiki Class

Image
What a wonderful time we had in class! There were six students, & five who came to 'Refresh' with Reiki; it was a wonderful experience! As we began, I asked each student to introduce themselves, speak a little to what brought them to the class, & share a concern or 'Worry.' Those Refreshing or 'Auditing' the class generally had felt a pull to reconnect with the Reiki energy, or felt a special need for it at this time of their lives. They all were delighted to have the opportunity both for themselves, & to encourage those just beginning. The new students were eager to learn, AND several expressed a concern that THEY couldn't learn it! One mentioned SEVERAL family members 'do' Reiki, but she tends to be more Left Brain/analytical. She wanted to learn, but just didn't know if she'd feel anything. That was a common concern "Everyone else is going to feel it, but I'm not." Another, an electrician, commented t...

Essence Bouquet: Healing Heart and Hands

Image
Plumeria In the Flower Essence Repertory , Patricia Kaminsky & Richard Katz write: " In selecting appropriate essences, one can start with the positive goal, and then uncover the emotional or mental pattern which blocks the purpose. Likewise, identify the client's pattern of imbalance or suffering, and then determine the positive quality which needs to be developed."  This applies when choosing an individual essence, or when formulating a combination, a  'bouquet.' I began making essences just before becoming a Reiki Master in 1991, and have used individual essences and 'bouquets' in my classes since the beginning. I find them helpful for the integration process and add a way to  reset  our fields.  I find essences often 'present' themselves to be included in bouquets, as soon as I set the intention of what I wish to address, both positive goals, & shifting blocks to achieving that goal . Here are the flowers I included in  'Hea...

Resources

I love finding *new* (to me!) information & sites about Reiki. & revisiting *old* favorites. Here are a few: My dear friend Margo Vance-Borland is a healer & Reiki Master in Corvallis, Oregon. Margo also studied Reiki with Takata in 1973, and became a Reiki Master in 1994. She offers sessions & classes in Corvallis & at her beautiful Seichim Center, West of the town. John Harvey Grey was the third of 22 Reiki Masters initiated by Hawayo Takata (in 1976), & taught well into his 90s! The John Harvey Grey Center For Reiki Healing has some lovely articles, a Facebook page, & online newsletter. Though John passed in 2011, the Center he founded still offers training on the East Coast. Several months ago my friends met Portland Reiki Master Michelle Garnier Winkler at the Body/ Mind/ Spirit Expo, & were impressed with her warmth & joy. She offers sessions & classes at her center in Portland, Oregon. I studied Reiki in 1989, & became a R...

Ready for Reiki

Image
When the sudent - or teacher, is ready, things happen! For several years I taught Reiki intensively - small classes & workshop offerings at Breitenbush Hot Springs, a 'sabatical' (from massage) year at the coast with weekly Reiki circles, then classes here in McMinnville, including initiating my daughter & daughter-in law .... then those girls began having babies, & my GRANDMAMA years began! That coincided with my move to a co-op office with several treatment rooms, but no large classroom space. I adapted by teaching a few classes elsewhere, & offering individual training in my own Therapy room. Recently, a friend expressed interest in a class, & I approached a couple of friends about using their spaces for classes. So in January, I'll begin offering classes again on a regular basis! I'm excited. Your Reiki class, teacher & community: You'll be attuned to Reiki - a lifelong tool!  Learn to treat yourself and loved ones (including p...

Edward Bach - Healing Touch

Image
Around the same time that Takata sought answers for her own health, and Hayashi had opened his Tokyo clinic & was teaching hands on & spiritual healing, Englishman, Edward Bach, had similar questions, a similar quest. " Health is our heritage & right. It is the complete and full union between soul, mind & body.'   (Edward Bach, Collected Writings, P 91) Bach was born in Mosley, England Sept 24, 1886. He studied medicine, graduating in 1912, & commented ' It will take me 5 years to forget all I've been taught.' He had already begun to notice that different emotional states, worry, anxiety, anger, could affect the patient's health. He dreamed of a different kind of hospital, where patients could learn about themselves, & doctors would look more at the person than the symptoms. As an MD, he worked both as a general practitioner, bacteriologist & pathologist, developing vaccines made using a patient's own intestinal bacteria. ...
